A Narromine man remains in custody following an appearance in Dubbo Local Court yesterday.
Twenty-seven-year-ol d Darren John Murphy was arrested by police in Narromine on Wednesday.
Mr Murphy was wanted by police for numerous offences arising from an incident which occurred in the town on Tuesday January 31.
Orana Duty Officer, Inspector Andrew Hurst, said this incident involved an off-duty police officer who intervened in a domestic dispute she witnessed.
She was later allegedly pursued through the streets of
Narromine.
“About 11.15am on Wednesday February 8 2012, police attended a Temoin Street residence in Narromine as part of local efforts to arrest the wanted man,” Inspector Hurst said.
“Upon arriving at the premises police witnessed the man jumping a rear fence.
“He was pursued over a five minute period through numerous yards in the vicinity and was eventually arrested in the front yard of nearby premises in Temoin Street.”
Mr Murphy was arrested and conveyed to the Narromine Police Station and was charged with eight offences including common assault, breach apprehended violence order, malicious damage, affray, throw object at vehicle, throw missile, menacing driving and outstanding warrant - breach of order for conviction of common assault.
After appearing in court yesterday, Mr Murphy was bail refused to reappear in Dubbo Local Court on March 21.
