New chairperson for chamber

03 Jul, 2009 04:52 PM
Chamber of Commerce chairperson Susie Collet announced her retirement at Wednesday’s Annual General Meeting. Ms Collet said she wanted to devote more time to her business, Lime Grove, and did not want to be perceived as having a conflict of interest.

Chamber member Stacey Hazzard was voted in as chairperson. Katie Young was appointed as vice chairperson while Christina Cherry retained her position as secretary and Anna Hitchcock took on the role of treasurer.

Ms Collet thanked the members for their support and said she had enjoyed her time as chairperson.

“The Chamber has been resurrected from a situation of disaster to what it is today,” she said.

Ms Hazzard said she was looking forward to embracing the role.

“It is a fantastic honour and I can’t wait to help bring together all local businesses and strive for a common goal.”
