Maurice Campbell, publicity officer of Family and Friends of the First AIF, had everyone’s attention speaking about the story of the Lone Pine, how descendent seeds came to Australia and marking one year since a Lone Pine was planted in Trangie.
Following a morning of reflection, the crowd moved to the Trangie Memorial Hall where a plaque, dedicated to the Lone Pine, was unveiled.
Mr Campbell said having the Lone Pine planted at the memorial hall was a very appropriate place.
“It is a wonderful spot for everyone to come and remember those from Trangie
who served in all wars,” he
said.
The Trangie Men’s Shed has been commended on doing a great job in looking after the Lone Pine and for fixing the plaque to the rock.
