The Wanderers started their season well with a hard fought one-wicket win over reigning premiers the Backwater boys at Dundas Oval on Saturday.
Backwater won the toss and elected to bat with their top order proving to be a little rusty in their first outing - at one stage slumping to 6/55.
Craig Duff provided some resistance with a hard fought 32 while the Wanderers’ bowlers shared in the spoils with Aaron Clark 4/19 and Wayne Hughes 3/21 grabbing the bulk of the wickets.
The Wanderers’ run chase was hampered by the continual fall of wickets with some useful contributions from Bronsan Barker 21, Aaron Clark 15 and Sam Crook 21 doing enough work for the lower ordered to get them across the line for their maiden win of the season.
The best Backwater bowler was Doug Potter who picked up 4/22 but he could not do enough to restrict the opposition to their modest total of 104.

Warren Golf Club is venturing into unknown territory this season taking on the might of teams in the Narromine Cricket Association.
After much deliberation the Golf Club decided to make the switch from Gilgandra to Narromine and the first outing has proved the change to be a successful one so far.
Golf Club took on last season’s Narromine minor premiers, Trangie, at Warren on Friday night and came out convincing winners with a six wicket victory, albeit against a much depleted Trangie side.
Trangie won the toss and elected to bat in the first game at Victoria Oval for the season.
They were off to a shaky start, losing a wicket in the second over to the bowling of Sean Robson which saw Trangie at 1/ 7 early. Trangie made a recovery from this point to see them at 2/57 after 15 overs but from this moment their batting line up suffered a massive collapse to lose eight wickets for just 31 runs to see them bowled out for 88.
Best with the bat for Trangie were former players in the Warren competition Bill Tyrwhitt 20 and Rick Wilson 19 while Trangie captain Richard Flynn also made 20.
The Golf Club bowling attack was best served by Trevor O’Mally with 4/17 while Matt Langby and Todd Whalan claimed two wickets each.
In reply the Golf Club’s innings got off to a flying start with Matt Stephens 35 and Matt Colwell 19 putting on 55 for the first wicket in just 10 overs.
Golf Club had a few stumbles from this point losing three wickets before achieving their victory target finishing at 4/89 to record their first win in the Narromine competition after just 20 overs.
The task will only be tougher this week as Golf Club take on current premiers Backwater at Victoria Oval on Saturday night. Golf Club will need to raise the bar if they are to beat the reigning premiers.

Buddah started the season well with a win over an improving Colts outfit who look to be very competitive this season.
Buddah won the toss and posted a competitive score, all out for 165, with good contributions from captain Andrew McIntyre 53 and Angus Webb 36.
The Colts’ bowlers shared in the wickets with Jordon Richardson 3/29, Jacob Short 3/35 and Henry Buttsworth 4/48.
The Colts’ innings started well with the top order of Tod Porter 11, Peter Wheeler 39 and Henry Buttsworth 27 all contributing well at 3/101 after 20 overs.
However a middle order collapse thanks to some accurate bowling by Jo McCutcheon saw the Colts all out for 158. McCutcheon finished with the tidy figures of 5/20 to help Buddah over the line for their fist victory of the season.
