On Tuesday and Wednesday of last week we played the third and fourth rounds on the 72-hole championships.
Congratulations to the winners, in A grade. The scratch was won by Betty Berryman and the handicap by Terese Haley, and in B Grade the scratch was won by Betty Browning and the handicap by Jenny Fitzgerald.
Tuesday’s results were: A grade scratch Judy Barlow 85 on a countback from Betty Berryman, A grade handicap Heather Bootle 69 nett. In B grade the scratch winner was Joy Whiteman 102 on a countback from Sue Richardson and the handicap Sue Richardson with 70 nett. Heather Bootle won the Trophy which was donated by Narromine Butchery. Ball winners were Terese Haley 71 nett, Betty Green 72 nett, Betty Berryman 73 nett and Bev Woods 75 nett. Nearest the pins were Heather Bootle and Jenny Fitzgerald, and the drawn card was won by Robyn Jones.
The results for the final round of the championships were A grade scratch Betty Berryman 83 on a countback from Judy Barlow, A grade handicap Vicki Gainsford 70 nett who also won the trophy donated by Robyn Jones on a countback from Sandy Mack. B grade scratch and handicap was won Marj Kelly 99 and 71 nett. Ball winners were Sandy Mack 70 nett, Judy Barlow 70 nett, Joy Whiteman 72 nett and Robyn Jones 72 nett. Nearest the pins, trophies donated by Margie and Barbie, were Betty Berryman and Vicki Gainsford.
The nine-hole competition was won by Kaye Gainsford. The drawn card was won by Sue Richardson.The raffle donated by Barbie and Margie Tuck was won by Gail White.
The 36-hole event trophy was donated by Margie and Barbie Tuck was won by Judy Barlow 142 nett. A grade scratch Betty Berryman 168 on a countback from Judy Barlow. B grade, scratch Marj Kelly 204 and B grade handicap winner was Joy Whiteman 143.
The overall championship results are as follows: A grade scratch winner Betty Berryman 334, runner-up Betty
Green 352, handicap winner Terese Haley 284 nett, runner-up Sandy Mack 287 nett. In B grade the scratch winner was Betty Browning 401, runner-up Jenny Fitzgerald 402 and the handicap winner was Jenny Fitzgerald 286 nett, and runner-up was Dale Harding 290 nett.
On Saturday we played a stroke, scratch and handicap event for a trophy donated by Sue Wallace.The winner was Loyalty Roberts 64 nett.
A grade scratch winner was Judy Barlow 81 on a countback from Betty Berryman. B grade Joy Whiteman 99 on a countback from Dale Harding and B grade handicap Dale Harding 68 nett. Ball winners were Nancy Elrington 69 nett, Betty Berryman 69 nett and Elaine Ashdown 69 nett. Nearest the pins were Marj Kelly and Joan Collins. The drawn card was won by Sue Wallace and the raffle donated by Marj Kelly, was won by Dale.
Today is our open tournament, so we are hoping for some sunshine, we start teeing off at 9am.We have some generous sponsorship from L’Oreal Paris,Neville Owen Fuel Distributor, New England Credit Union, Horti Ladies and some club members. There is a $500 prize for a hole-in-one donated by Ralph Ryan of Retire Invest Newcastle, and a very nice bag for the raffle donated by Mary and Me. It should be a great day.
