Buddah take good win against Warren

06 Nov, 2009 01:03 PM
On Saturday Warren Golf Club travelled to Narromine to take on Buddah for their first away game for the season. Warren won the toss and elected to bat on a picture-perfect Dundas Oval.

The away team’s innings started well before Dwayne Kent was caught for 18 and Matt Stephens followed the next ball on just four runs to have the Golf Club reeling at 2-22.

Todd Whalan came and went for 16 and with a steady fall of wickets the Golf Club were 5-58 before Trevor O’Mally and Ray Sayers combined for a 56-run partnership to give some hope to the away side.

O’Mally was eventually dismissed for a superb 53 and Sayers fell a short time later for 18 leaving Warren all out for 127 in the 33rd over.

Buddah’s bowling honours went to Greg Wynn 4/31, Jo McCutcheon 3/26, and A McIntyre 2/20.

With only 10 men Warren were going to struggle to defend 127 but Kent, who bowled 10 overs straight, gave some hope decimating Buddah who were 5-69 at drinks.

Kent bowled an excellent line to claim 4/20 to easily be Warren’s best bowler. But that’s where the side’s joy ended with Buddah cruising to victory in the 28th over thanks to Dave Warren’s well-complied 52 not out and Scott Ceeney’s power hitting to fair 33 not out.

McIntyre rounded out his match with a good 25. The only other wicket-taker for the Golf Club was Todd Whalan 1/34. This week is a general bye due to the Cotton Cup. Warren Golf Club’s next game will be against the Wanderers in Narromine.

Wanderers Crush Trangie at Home

The Wanderers travelled to Trangie to take on the home team on what was a warm Saturday afternoon.

Trangie, after losing one of their opening batsmen without scoring, were able to steady the ship with Bill Tyrwhitt and Brad Naylor putting on a handy 80-run partnership.

When Naylor fell for 27 Trangie’s batting line-up comprehensively collapsed with seven of the last eight batsmen failing to get more than two runs leaving the home side all out for 133 with Bill Tyrwhitt again shining with the bat scoring 74.

Best for the Wanderers with the ball were Trent Jacobson who finished with 3/9 and Smith who finished with 3/8.

Chasing a small total Wanderers made light work of the Trangie bowlers losing only one wicket with Bronson Barker 68 not out and Ben Clark 53 not out combining for a 100 partnership to steer the travelling team to victory.

It was an unrewarding day for the Trangie bowlers with Watt the only wicket-taker collecting 1/33 in his five overs.

In the Country Plate clash with Forbes, Narromine opened their innings briskly with Brad Perry getting to 19 chasing a Forbes total of 262.

Dwane Kent fell for 21 while Doug Potter and Bronson Barker failed to nudge the scoreline. Aaron Clark followed, also without score and Tod Porter went for five. Kale Bock made some marvellous strokes making it to 47 but with the score at 7/109 a Narromine win now looked extremely unlikely.

Forbes spinner Mitch Bayley tidied up the tail, claiming Tony Harding for five, Josh Wrench for one and Jordan Richardson for 33. Sam Crook finished not out on two, leaving Narromine 112 runs short.

In the round four clash between the Colts and Backwater the young guns came out on top.

This weekend’s general bye will be followed by the harvest break on November 14 with the next round of matches scheduled to recommence on November 21.
