The Narromine Jets’ Old Boys held their annual golf day on September 19 with 40 players showing up to play a two-man ambrose on the manicured greens of the Narromine Golf Club.
Highlights of the day included Boy George starting the day with a drive that went further than the Leyland Brothers on safari, David Paine hitting the ball long and accurate and Jack Burgess having his short game on song.
With all this happening Tony Mann and his partner Noddy had to use their A game to take out the day and win Jets’ jackets each kindly donated by Dave and Nell Paine at Macquarie Clothing.
Other memorable mentions must go to Steve Gillette who had a great day though it could have gone better without having to carry his offsider all day, Phil ‘Hommo’ Harding, who was at his story-telling best with some great yarns of his past footballing days.
Thommo, Payney, Nev, Hodgo and the rest of the crew all had many cool drinks in the warm sun and this may have caused their game to go to ruin in the last few holes.
The old boys would like to thank everyone who attended the day and would like to greatly thank Mick Wright who cooked a tremendous barbecue on the day, keeping everyone well fed.
The old boys would like to thank the sponsors of the day who donated some great prizes for all players to take home including Macquarie Clothing, Ag n Vet, Handsaker Ford, Narromine USMC, Tooheys and the Narromine Golf Club.
The Narromine Jets would like to remind all players, officials and supporters that the Jets trivia and auction night is on October 31 starting at 7pm at the Royal Hotel while the presentation night is on October 17 at the Narromine USMC starting at 6.30pm with a $10 entry fee including a lucky door prize on the night.
Food can be ordered from the restaurant on the night.
