Connection to winning jockey

06 Nov, 2009 01:02 PM
Never far from the action Trangie publican Shane Dolton laid claim to a winning connection with Melbourne Cup winner Shocking on Tuesday. The former racehorse owner once had the Melbourne Cup winning jockey Corey Brown riding his horse Dynamic Dude. Brown rode Dynamic Dude 10 years ago winning his race at the Canterbury racecourse in Sydney. Mr Dolton remembers a shy but nice and talented jockey.

“Good bloke, pretty quiet,” he said.

“We won nine races with Dynamic Dude.”

The horse was trained by local trainer Paul Mitchell and Mr Dolton said while it was a rewarding enterprise he now focused on breeding race- winning pigeons rather than horses.

“He was the only one thank god,” he said.

“You’ve got to have a lot of time to go and watch them.

“Little Robbie from the footy show rode him and won.

“His last race was at Macquarie Picnics and he won.”

Unfortunately Mr Dolton said he didn’t back Shocking in the Cup because he wasn’t a big punter.

“I should have followed him but I’m not much of a gambler,” he said.
