Bowlers take part in Una Dalton Day

20 Nov, 2009 10:43 AM
WOMEN’S BOWLS: There were no social bowls at Narromine this week for our ladies as 24 players travelled to Dubbo to participate in the Una Dalton Day which had been postponed earlier in the year due to rain.

This event was started a few years ago by a lady named Una Dalton who wanted to have a day of teams matches with a smaller club where the newer players from the clubs could participate and Narromine happened to be the chosen club.

In spite of the heatwave it was a good day and was won by Dubbo City.

Narromine won it last year so had to relinquish the cup to Dubbo City. Unfortunately, owing to the deferral of the original date, Una Dalton had a previous engagement and the Cup was presented by Rita Conlan in her stead. Let us hope the home advantage next year will bring it back again.

During the presentations the host club provided a very nice lunch before our players departed.

Betty Purvis was the only one to come home with a prize as she won a very handsome raffle.

Next Tuesday 24th will be President’s and Secretary’s Day and names are required to be put on the noticeboard at the club.

It will be arrive by 9am for a 9.30 start. After lunch will be our final quarterly meeting for 2009 so hope you will all stay .

Again I remind everyone about the Christmas Party on December 8 so don’t forget to put your name on the sheet on the board by December 4.

Social bowls for 2010 will kick off on February 2 with names to be in by 9am for play to begin at 9.30am.

We will not be taking our lunch until daylight saving ends.
