Narrow loss results in elimination of grade six

4/06/2008 11:55:00 AM
The grade six squad has been eliminated after a four-shot loss to Coonamble on Sunday.

Narromine was in front at the halfway mark but were just behind at the finish post.

The Narromine side is to be congratulated on winning their section and advancing to the district playoffs. Better luck next year fellas.

Although still in contention, the grade two side has suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Parkes on Sunday.

The home ground advantage stood for nothing for the Narromine side as Parkes took control of the match and ran out 18-shot winners (64-46). Pennants resume in two weeks when the number two side travels back to Parkes to try and reclaim the lead.

Round two of the A grade singles was contested on Saturday with some highly entertaining matches.

Budd Cape posted a good win over Alex Sambrook, Rick Bohm was too good for Brian Coupe, David McNair recorded a big win over Terry Scott, John Silk outlasted Cliff Bullock while John Edwards had to fight hard to deafeat Peter Cross.

James Daley was in devastating form against Des Lincoln. Des staged a fightback in the middle stages of the game however it was James who found composure and went on to win the match.

Robbie Stanford and Aaron Hutchison were both exhausted after some 40 ends on the green.

Both fought tooth and nail for every shot and the game was anybody’s in the dying stages, without having to play his last bowl Aaron came away with a one shot win 31-30.

Social bowls on Thursday saw 32 bowlers hitting it out and at the conclusion of play it was R Bohm, K Heatrick and M Hing who prevailed as the winners while R Cross, R Haddon and G Allen had to settle for the runner-up prize.

Sunday consisted of 12 players allowing brothers Mick and Bob Weir clear passage to the winner’s prize.

No championship matches are set down for this weekend.

Good luck to those players travelling away to carnivals over the long weekend (hope you come home with the money).

That’s it for this week, good bowling.
