Tough conditions for golfers in stableford

10 Feb, 2012 09:54 AM
Last Saturday we had 28 players compete in an individual stableford, sponsored by the Golf Club, in tough conditions with only four golfers playing better than their handicap. Mark Shepherdson had 41 points to win from Craig Duff 38 points.

Ball winners were Tony Barlow and Matt Gainsford. Nearest the pin on the ninth was Craig Duff and 10th George Mack.

On Sunday 22 golfers teed off in a 4BBB which was won by David Floyde and Bryce Crawford with 47 points from Chris Harding and Steve Ward who had 43 points. Ball winners were Joshua Coen and Scott Magill (well played Scott). Nearest the pins were Tony Harding and Therese Haley.

On Tuesday night we had 141 starters with scores being very close.

There was only 11 points between the best and lowest scores over the 16 teams. Agrigrain and Tee Birdies tied with 88 points to reign supreme for this week.

Ball winners were Sally McGaw, Michael Treseder, Kale Bock, Anne Harmer, Brian Masling, Tim Wiggins, Sam Ward, Allan Kearines, Anthony Barlow, Keith Hemsworth, Bev Woods, Sue Richardson and Sam Rush.

Nearest the pin on the third was Geoff Swane, ninth Rowan Garner, 10th Kale Bock and 17th Betty Browning. Many thanks to our groundsmen particularly Geoff, Steve and Mike - the course looks fantastic.

In club news Josh has been found so stop looking. Also this week we had birthdays for two of the nicest blokes you could ever meet, both 86 years old, in John Gainsford and Rusty McKenzie.

Also found this week was Ross King’s smile when he found out his handicap had expanded.

Pom was also excited to have his handicap go out. Tomorrow we have an Irish Stableford and Sunday a 4 Ball Aggregate.
