The Gorillarettes trampled the CSU women’s rugby team resulting in an embarrassing 70-0 score line for the visitors.
Narromine’s discipline and defence on Saturday laid the bedrock for a bombastic attack more commonly seen in battle than on the football field.
The pace of outside centre Ash Bayliss made tidy work of CSU’s defence, putting her under the posts twice in the second half.
The ball looked just as snug as baby Xanthie in the hands of Jenna Wheelhouse as she continually probed and punished the opposition’s back line.
The slippery winger dashed over in the dying minutes for a great try.
The quick thinking of Kelly Boughton and Kylie Pennel was also rewarded with one try each.
Team captain Rebecca Trethowan proved a one woman tour de force scoring seven tries and leaving CSU dumbfounded as she guided the team from the number eight position.
Trethowan said the seven tries came on the back of support from her teammates.
“The rest of the girls did exceptional work, all that training is starting to pay off,”
“This was a game I thought could go either way,”
Kicker Krysten Clarke brought back the old school using her footy boot to position the ball before kicking it dead between the uprights for five conversions. With that in mind, Clarke was awarded best and fairest on the day.
