As the celebrations of the Central West First Division men’s and women’s rugby premierships slowly subside (some players have even begun returning to work), the inaugural AGM for Narromine Junior Rugby is at hand.
At the recent senior rugby AGM, unanimous agreement to support, assist and develop the establishment of junior rugby in Narromine was minuted; and with the contact details of so many families having been submitted and with the promised support of Central West Rugby management, referees and neighbouring clubs, junior rugby in Narromine looks a goer.
At tonight’s junior rugby AGM at the Narromine Hotel at 7.30pm, office bearers will be elected and the various ways parents and supporters can assist will be discussed including the promotion of safe rugby and sporting behaviour, coaching and referee course attendance, canteen rosters, car pooling, etc.
Age groups to be focussed upon will be 6-8 (Walla Rugby), 9-10 (Mini Rugby) and 11-12 (Midi Rugby); with 13+ on the horizon. Age groups are based on the calendar year: for example, “turning 12” at any stage during the year would still enable eligibility in the under 12s.
Friday nights in Term 2 of the school year are pencilled in for training and competitive sessions and it is to be hoped that many will grab the opportunity to participate in the Macquarie Emus’ Term 3 Gala Days.
