36 Hole Foursome Champions: Division 1 (coming from behind in the field last week) Vicki Gainsford and Valerie Edmunds 180 also winning the handicap 138.5 nett.
Division 1 runners-up: Heather Bootle and Loyalty Roberts 183 scratch and also runners-up in Handicap 149 nett.
Division 2 champions: Patricia Mitchell and Bev Woods (whose family are very tired of hearing about their win) 210 Scratch and Handicap 156 nett.
Runners-up: Only one stroke behind even though they found the bottom of the channel, surfacing from such with mud covered shoes, sticks and balls, Leonie Crawford and Elaine Ashdown 211 scratch and Handicap 157 nett.
The raffle was kindly donated by Wendy Jeffery and won by Valerie Edmunds (who truly had her day in the sun!)
A shared luncheon was held after this event and Annie Harmer was presented with a hole-in-one badge.
On Saturday was the WDLGA Stableford event, held on an overcast afternoon with threatening rain clouds circling, not to mention on a very wet and heavy-under-foot course.
Division 1 winner: Vicki Gainsford 35 points (whose name appears frequently among the winners). Vicki also won nearest the pin on the 17th .
Division 2 winner: Maida O’Mally 28 points who won on a countback from Bev Woods 28 points (I did mention it was a very heavy course).
Optional ball winners: 1 Heather Bootle 29 points, also winning nearest the pin on the ninth; 2 Bev Woods 28 points; 3 Judy Barlow 28 points.
Drawn card was won by Betty Browning, who won’t let me print her score! Raffle was kindly donated by Sandy Mack and very gratefully won by Bev Woods.
Today is the fourth round Monthly Medal. On Saturday, find a partner of either gender for the Geriatric Golf Day 4BBB medley. You are also asked to gather a table together for a Casserole Dinner at the club at 7pm.
Thought for the week: If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.
