Last Wednesday a massive 31 players were enticed to the fairways on a beautiful warm and sunny winter’s morning.
There were 29 players who contested the fourth round of the monthly medal; two played nine holes.
Those players who came in feeling disillusioned with their game please remember, our course is playing very heavily and nearly half the field didn’t have below an 80 nett score.
My suggestion to those players is to toughen up and keep playing the golf game.
The very resilient Vicki Gainsford won A grade with a splendid 65 nett with only 80 whacks of the stick.
B grade winner was Gail White with 70 nett. Optional ball winners: 1 Jan Brennan 69 nett; 2 Bev Woods 71 nett; 3 Nancy Elrington 72 nett; 4 Wendy Jeffery 73 nett; 5 Sue Richardson 74 nett also winning nearest pin on the 17th; 6 Marj Kelly 75 nett winning on a count back from the unfortunate Carole King also 75 nett.
Nearest the pin on the ninth was Carole Paddison.
The raffle was kindly donated by Maida O’Mally and won by Gail White, who’s had a very good day in the sun.
Saturday was the 4BBB Medley Geriatric Golf Day. A total of 23 lady members attended this event and the lady winners were Marj Kelly and Gail White 43 points (both taking home a sandwich maker. Toasted sandwiches for Peter and Patrick’s breakfast).
Runners-up were Nancy Elrington and Carole King 43 points (neither will be late for golf with an electric alarm clock trophy).
Third lady winners were Betty Browning and Jean Richardson 39 points (whom we don’t expect to see at golf in crumpled clothes with both winning an iron).
Mixed winners were Ross King and Valerie Edmonds 46 points and runners-up were Vicki Gainsford and Robert Williams 45 points.
Third place went to Maida O’Mally and Mal Frazer with 41 points.
Nearest the pin winners were Tracy McIntyre on the ninth, 10th Gail White and 17th Jan Brennan.
Today’s event is a par round with Neta Edson’s Trophy.
Saturday’s event is a Stroke Scratch and Handicap with Loyalty Robert’s Trophy.
Thought for the week: Success is like a beautiful lover it will leave us at anytime.
Failure is like a mother it will teach us some important lessons of life.
