The famous bush poet, Murray ‘Muz’ Hartin, spent the night at the Trangie Golf Club reciting his legendary poems such as Turbulence, Rain From Nowhere and The Hog Whisperer, to name a few. Lion David Dugan, said a lot of people commented that it was the best show they have seen and went away with a CD and books by Muz.
“Ricky Powell was there to lend a hand with some of his original songs about Glenn McGrath and the local area, which were very entertaining.
“He topped it off with some stories about his favourite old uncle, a real crowd pleaser,” Mr Dugan said.
After an amazing $2700 was raised on the night, the Trangie Lions were hoping to raise $3200 in total to be able to purchase an Automated External Defibrillator (AED unit).
“People may remember the “Packer Wacker” when Kerry Packer’s life was saved by one,” Mr Dugan said.
“Kerry then had one placed in every ambulance in Australia.
“There are a number of these units in Trangie though there isn’t
one accessible to the public.
“The Lions want to have a unit in a public place in town so it can be fetched and to the victim in the shortest amount of time,” Mr Dugan said.
“There is a 5 per cent survival rate on a heart attack victim with CPR only.
“The use of the AED unit with CPR will see the chance of survival much higher.”
The Trangie Lions would like to thank everybody for showing up and supporting the night with special thanks to Shane Dolton (The Pink Pigeon) for being MC, Muz and Ricky, Julie McAnally and Box Grading services for supplying
outstanding auction items.
Also thanks goes to Mark and Mel Gleeson, Aaron Pearce, Hugh and Deb Irving and Scott and Annette Parker for their kind donations.
