Last Wednesday saw a large field of 28 players contest for WGNSW medals along with Joyce McCutcheon’s Putting Trophy.
Medal winners are as follows: Division 1 - Vicki Gainsford 72 nett. Vicki also won nearest pin ninth; Division 2 - Betty Browning 68 nett; Putting Trophy - Michelle Ashdown 23 putts winning on a count back from Joan Collins 23 putts; A grade winner - Vivien Halbisch 69 nett (44 whacks on back nine!); B grade winner - Betty Browning 68 nett; C grade winner - Elaine Ashdown 73 nett.
Optional ball winners were: 1 Dale Harding 69 nett, Dale also won nearest pin 17th (almost a hole in one!); 2 Maida O’Mally 69 nett; 3 Bev Woods 70 nett; 4 Marj Kelly 70 nett; 5 Leonie Crawford 70 nett; 6 Valerie Edmunds 71 nett.
Drawn card was won by Wendy Jeffery.
Joyce McCutcheon very kindly also donated the raffle and this was won by Kathie Williams.
Congratulations must go to Marj Kelly as winner of the Crawford Cup.
Congratulations to Gail White, who took Marj to the 22nd hole before she was forced to surrender! Gail was a worthy runner-up.
On Saturday was the fifth round of the Monthly Medal and the A grade winner was Vivien Halbisch 66 nett with 44 whacks on both nines this time!
B grade winner was the very humble Bev Woods, who was very fortunate to sink a putt on the seventh green with aircraft and a helicopter hovering overhead doing some rescue exercise!
Optional ball winners: 1 Wendy Jeffery 70 nett (would have been less, had she not popped one over the fence onto the Trangie road!); 2 Sandy Mack 70 nett; 3 Loyalty Roberts 70 nett, Loyalty won nearest pin on the ninth (not sick of golf today!); Vicki Gainsford with a shortened handicap can still win nearest pin 17th.
Drawn card won by a very happy Joan Collins. The raffle was kindly donated by Michelle Ashdown and won by a very exuberant Leonie Crawford.
Thought for the Week: The best way to forget all your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
