Penalty notice (fines to the amount of $500.00) may apply to residents who burn without approval and Fire & Rescue NSW will be called on to extinguish the fire. If you intend to carry out any backyard burning, please contact Council’s Planning & Environmental Services Department on 68899950.
Parking on Footpaths - Council is undertaking an information campaign to highlight the difficulties caused when vehicles are parked on footpaths. Many motorists do not realise the difficulties they can cause pedestrians when they park their vehicles across footpaths. Some of the most vulnerable pedestrians may be young children, women with infants in prams or the elderly. When pedestrians have to walk on the constructed road to get around a vehicle that is parked across a footpath, the opportunity for an accident is significantly increased.
It is also an offence to park vehicles on or obstruct access to the footpath and the current penalty is $84 and $141 in a School Zone.
Please consider these factors and leave sufficient space for pedestrians to walk on the footpath when you next park your vehicle near a footpath and remember that the footpath is not a parkinglot.
