Last Tuesday saw the Trangie Golf Club host the veterans for an 18-hole stableford event with 74 players taking part from 14 clubs.
With the course in great shape and fantastic weather and food all the players had a great time and some wonderful scores over all grades were recorded with many winners relying on count backs.
A thankyou must go to all the people who helped to make the day a great success.
The overall winner on the day was Gil Geerts with 44 points. Runner-up overall was Tony Barlow also on 44 points.
A grade winner was Bruce Mitchell; A grade runner-up - Craig Davies.
B grade winner was Ian Cameron; B grade runner-up George Mack.
C grade winner was Henry Rouse; C grade runner-up G Davies.
Nearest to the pin in A grade was John Fairley, B grade Fuzzy and C grade L Hilder.
A grade ladies winner was J Mathews; A grade runner-up L McCutcheon.
B grade ladies winner was A McMillen; B grade runner-up J Richardson.
Nearest to the pin in a A grade was T Mealarly and B grade A Burns.
A special mention goes to Greg Rankmore for his eagle on the par 4 ninth hole; I’m sure that the length of his second shot got longer as the night went.
On Saturday the Trangie Golf Club played the men’s sixth medal round, the R Hohnberg trophy, and the ladies fifth medal round, D Rankmore Trophy, with great scores in both.
The men’s event again came down to a count back with W Wallace and T McWhirter both coming in with 64 nett; well done. Nearest to the pin went to W Wallace with W Wallace also picking up the birdies nest.
The ladies was won by Linda McCutcheon with 67 nett and M Wallace runner-up with 69 nett. M Wallace also picked up the nearest to the pin. A big thank you to the sponsors of the day, R Hohnberg and D Rankmore. On August 7 the ladies played in the final rounds of the McKinnon Cup and President’s trophies. Winner of the McKinnon Cup was Linda McCutcheon 176 and the runner-up was Pam Ferrari 182. President’s Trophy 36-hole handicap winner was Linda McCutcheon 132 so the trophy went to next in line, Anne Burns 141. Winner of the club trophy with a lovely nett 57 was Linda McCutcheon. Ball winners were Linda 57, Anne Burns 68 and Chris Sharpe 68. Chris also won nearest the pin.
