The school vice-captain is known around town for his long blonde locks, but has decided 2014 is the year to sacrifice his hair for a good cause.
Joseph's logic is simple.
"(Shave for a cure) needs the money more than I need the hair," he said.
This is a big change for Joseph as he's never had really short hair.
"It was shorter about five years ago, but never this short," he said.
Regardless the people of Narromine are behind him, the worthy cause has already raised around $1500.
"People have been thanking me," he said, "I was aiming for $1000 but I guess I'll aim for $2000 now."
There is an exciting day planned for the big shave.
As Joseph works part time at Coles, the head shave will take place at the Supermarket in Narromine on May 3.
The day takes off at 9am with a sausage sizzle available.
Joseph and his mum, Vicky, have announced anyone who makes a significant donation can assist in shaving his hair.
Joseph and Vicky plan to be in Dubbo on April 26 to take donations for the cause.
There is also collection buckets set up around Narromine.
