Director of the NSW Government Office of Veteran Affairs and chair of State War Memorial Committee Darren Mitchell said they were glad the community was part of the decision process.
"We're reasonably flexible with the grant. Local decisions take time," he said.
"We give out the grant knowing work will be done probably in a combination of restoration and relocation."
Mr Mitchell said their goal is always the same.
"Remembrance is sustained," he said.
Mr Mitchell said Cenotaphs around the state had been relocated. "We've recently been to a rededication in Miranda where the memorial was in the middle of the road," he said. "It is now adjacent in a local park that was a big effort from the local RSL."
"We started talking in 2010, it took a few years. It's a massive project and can take some time."
Narromine Shire Council has invited all residents of the shire to attend a public meeting on Wednesday which will take place at the Golf Club Auditorium at 6pm.
They stated the meeting is to discuss the relocation of the Narromine War Memorial Cenotaph and to allow residents to have an input into it's new location.
Mr Mitchell said it's important anyone wanting to pay their respects feels safe.
