“Welcome all and here are our ‘Conditions of Play’ to use bowling terminology,” were the first words of instruction from our quizmaster Rick Bohm, putting everyone in their place and requesting the 11 teams to select their team name as well as their double rounds.

Scorekeeper and assistant, otherwise known as the CEO, Linda, collected all the paperwork and the night, in support of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Narromine Support Group, got under way.
The usual suspects were there with teams from Flea Bags, Bookworms, Bogan Bar Flies, Easy Beats along with Cats and Dogs.
Yes - All the President’s Men have returned, captained by President Kevin Rider and another welcome return to We’re Back along with some newbies in the Birthday Boys, Just Us, Mixed Bags et al.
The baffler question began with “I am found all over the world” and round one started with the topic of Cups and Trophies, where you had to match the picture of the trophy/cup with its correct description eg. Melbourne Cup.
Only Cats and Dogs and Team Goodwin did not get a perfect score. However, the baffler baffled teams right up to clue four, other clues being; Found on Islands; Often white in colour; I like oceans. Two teams got the correct answer and I will let you in on the answer at the end of the article.
Round two was a much tougher round where the scores ranged from six to eight.
Round three, Science and Nature, was a little better and the range of points was seven to nine, proving it was going to be a tough night for some teams. At the end of this round and with only one team not using a double point round; Gasp and Shock! All the President's Men had the joint lead.
Heads and Tails proved an interesting question and the discussion about Uranus (the planet) eliminated over half or the contestants and as usual hilarity ensued. It was down to Just Us and Birthday Boys and the Birthday Boys emerged supreme. According to the Guinness Book of Records what is the record number of children born to one mother? Hint: more than 30 and keep reading for the answer.
Rounds five and six (the traditional picture round) saw improvements with teams finally picking up and getting the perfect score, even though there was another controversy with the Olsen twins and who was who. The 100 club winners of Rick, Pauline and Paul proved popular.
With the night almost complete it was time to announce the winners (drum roll please….).
Joint winners were the Birthday Boys (who capped off a very successful night) and We’re Back on a very respectable score of 75 with the Birthday Boys reigning supreme and taking home the spoils.
In third place was (another drum roll please – they deserve it) All the President's Men on an also respectable score of 70. Captain Kevin Rider was quoted as saying, “That’s the best score we’ve ever got!” Bookworms took out the runners-up award. Supper was delicious as usual and enjoyed by all.
President Kev thanked everyone for their great support for this deserved cause and announced that the night had raised over $700 with a further $169 from merchandise and raffles.
Narromine MS Support Group spokesperson Tim gratefully accepted the donation and announced “Thank you to all for all you help in raising this amount and we have our Red Night to be held on August 1.”
The next charity trivia night is scheduled for August 19 in support of Narromine Combined Schools.
Looking forward to another fantastic event.
Ooooops! Almost forgot, the answers to the baffler was a lighthouse (disputed by some teams but put in their place by the Host with the Most) and according to the Guinness Book of Records the number of children….. 69.
Until next time….:)
