There was excitement and relief at the Alan Burns Oval last Saturday when the Trangie Magpies notched up their first win for the 2014 Castlereagh League season. Much to the delight of the faithful followers of the club the Magpies thumped the Coolah Kangaroos 64-0.

It was the first outing this season that the Magpies have fielded a fully-fit squad and after going so close in other games this year the boys were determined to get points on the board.
Right from the outset the Magpies dominated and it wasn't long before the crowd was cheering with captain Carl Moss crossing for the first try of the day.
A depleted Coolah side was never given an opportunity in the match with the Magpies' defence as impressive as their attack.
The Magpies went into the sheds at half-time with a 30-0 lead and were determined to please their supporters and continue their dominance of the game.
The second half was as entertaining as the first with the Magpies scoring another 34 points sealing that emphatic first win.
Mikaira Skinner was outstanding for the Magpies earning himself players' player for the game. He was strong in both defence and attack.
The Magpies tally was boosted by the goal-kicking efforts of Ethan Sheedy, he converted nine from nine for the day.
The boys travel to Coonabarabran this Saturday which will be a tough encounter before heading back to Trangie for the last two home games of the season.
