In the top competition players paused to back the 'Rise For Alex' campaign and once the match got under way, Wellington pressured quickly, captain Justin Toomey White pushing off defenders to open the scoring on five minutes.
Lewis Stanley shooting the extras from a difficult sideline position.
Wellington forwards hit hard in both defence and attack.
Forward Mick Ryan making big metres but the Jets were determined to get in Cowboys' faces and centre Jordan Richardson scored first, then Claude Gordon switched into top gear beating players for Narromine to hold a 12-6 advantage.
Just before the break Toomey White, through a strong left side attack, barged over and it was level at half-time.
The match was anyones.
A verbal spray at half-time might have ignited Wellington as second rower Shannon Ireland stormed over in the right corner but a minute later five-eighth Lewis Stanley was sent off for a high tackle.
Now a man short, the Cowboys back pedalled.
The Jets hit the tarmac running and Alec Sambrook was over two tackles later and Narromine was in front and held an advantage.
Maybe it was what Wellington needed, soon they put on 22 points in 17 minutes with a man down.
Winger Robbie Donn was over in the far corner and second rower Chris Thompson scored two thumping tries, running more than 30 metres both times, to score and when Justin Toomey bagged a treble the Cowboys had turned around the match to lead 40-18.
Janus Walford managed to scored a dashing try and Villain Turaga ran 60 metres right through the middle but at the end of the day Wellington managed to win.
Narromine's fortunes broken by some lapses in the midfield and now the Jets have to turn their focus on the remaining matches with a slender chance of making the finals.
