We had a great time watching the different instruments. We learnt about the woodwind, brass, string and percussion sections of the orchestra.
We even got to join in by playing body percussion and practising our conducting skills.
The keyboard students enjoyed watching everyone playing in time and noticed that even their heads moved in time.
The violin students noticed that they belonged to the string section of the orchestra.
We observed that they plucked and vibrated their strings on the bow to make different noises.
The flute students enjoyed learning about the woodwind section and hearing how each instrument plays a different part.
The guitar students enjoyed the rhythmic elements of the performance, especially the percussion section playing their timpani.
The teachers were very proud of our behaviour at the concert, especially the students who answered questions from the conductor.
We would like to thank the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for assisting us with extra funds and giving us the opportunity to learn and grow in new areas.
