Another week has passed and with Mother Nature's co-operation all planned bowls action happened and here are the results. Thursday social bowls saw some 18 gentlemen go around in ideal conditions with yours truly even getting half a game, and the runners up cheque, although not sure if I will see it as the first half player has appealed the decision, thanks for that "Puddy". Anyhow the day's winners were Warren Brown, Bob Davis and Phil Harding who gave Cranky and Co a nice old headache, as well as a couple of sore ears along the way. The runners-up were the aforementioned triples team I was fortunate enough to be part of with Robert Bateman and Danny Carnevale doing the bulk of the good work, me I just tried to keep "Rabs" under wraps, as he certainly was in front of that other lead before I took over.

The jackpot didn't go off this week despite Bruce Maher again getting to push the button and in a little bit of de je vu he managed to get the same number that won the jackpot Sunday out, clever that, but not on this occasion as there was no 15 in the winning margins.
Sunday saw some 20 boys and girls in attendance and with the weather again quite pleasant it was almost surprising there weren't a few more having a run, particularly the ladies, who only numbered three. Anyhow for the record it was the winning pairs teams that went home with the cash with Graham King and David McNair earning a small "shandy" for their 13 points, whilst the day's winners were Mavis Leak and Bruce Livingston who scored a very healthy 16 points in their convincing win over Tracey and Cranky to complete a tough week for Cranky, leading in the winners of social bowls on Thursday and Sunday. With Bruce not being available to push the jackpot button, it wasn't surprising that the right numbers didn't appear and so next week this little bonus will jump up a few more "shekels", just one reason to come out and have a go, hope to see you there.
The draw for the A triples championships was conducted by a couple of bowls committee members on Sunday morning and as a result of the draw there are three first-round matches scheduled for play next Saturday, whilst those teams lucky enough to get a bye, by mutual agreement, can also have a go next Saturday afternoon at 1.30pm. For the record those first round matches are: Game one Mal Dawes, Arnold Gillespie and Don Sullivan will play Alex Sambrook, Budd Cape and Robert French. Game two sees Rick Bohm, David Price and Geoff Bohm take on Geoff Anderson, Steve Riley and Steve Buttsworth whilst in game three it will be Phil Harding, Des Lincoln and David McNair up against Warren Brown, Bruce Maher and Peter Cross. So three interesting encounters and under the conditions of play, which include the two bowl, 25 ends law, should make for a pretty lively afternoon of action, best the window tappers get there early to get a good spot.
Last weekend had the pleasure and privilege to chauffeur Narromine's official team up to Trangie for President Andrew Barber's big day, and whilst "Kevie", "Brown Boots" and "Blue" won both their matches they didn't accumulate enough points to finish on the podium. That honour however went to another Narromine outfit, namely Warren Brown, Danny Carnevale and skip Bruce Livingston, well done lads.
Our club was well represented with four sides entered and a couple or four other Narromine residents also involved in composite sides, so all in all some 16 players. Not a bad bit of support for Trangie and as well the supporters bus, driven by Ron Cape, had a day out as well, just to add to the flavour of the day.
Well that's about it for me this week, could be another busy week for the Butler, but at least I don't have to get up too early each morning to get Harry his paper, Greg is doing home deliveries to the hospital, Yee Har!!!!!
