Ten rifle shooters, including four visitors, found the going tough at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range on Saturday when competition was held over 1000 yards.

A fast-changing breeze had shots hitting everywhere except the centre for some of the early shooters so it wasn't until later in the day that scores improved.
At the end of the first stage visiting shooter Tony McGuigan led the target rifle scores with a 48/50 and F-class was led by Alan Taylor on 56/60.
The second stage was fired under similar conditions and this time Norm Brown hit a 49/50 to win the A-grade badge with an off-rifle score of 94/100.
Alan Taylor scored a 55/60 to win the F-class badge and the weekly handicap trophy with a total 111/120. The white spot survived to jack-pot for the 300 metres shoot next Saturday.

Clive Simpson 44/48, F-class total 92/120; Rob Rainbow 49/54, F-class total 103/120; Scott Monaghan 46/40, o/r 86, hcp 4, total 90/100; Steve King 37/45, visitor total 82/100; Lindsay Hough 33/43, visitor total 76/100; Alan Taylor 56/55, F-class total 111/120; Tony McGuigan 48/46,visitor total 94/100; Val Jackson 36/5, visitor total 41/120.
On Sunday, 10 shooters competed in the 1000 yard benchrest shoot under ideal conditions.
All shooters recorded scores and groups and the two winners, Ben and Nathan, shared a rifle to win the smallest group and top score in both competitions.
Next Saturday shooting is back to 300 metres starting at 12.30pm.
