After a fantastic season the boys in blue will take on seven-time champions Crusaders from New Zealand on Saturday night at ANZ Stadium.
Pat took time out of his pre-finals routine to chat to the Narromine News and Trangie Advocate.
"It's really good. We put a lot of work into pre-season in October last year - it's great to end up on top," he said.
"But no one remembers the minor premiers."
Pat said the team was trying to keep things as normal as possible this week in anticipation of the final.
"We're trying to keep to a regular routine and a lid on the hype," he said.
NSW Waratahs' coach, Michael Cheika has kept the team that beat the Brumbies last weekend in a nail-biting semi-final.
"We've got to keep pushing, holding on is not enough. We will go out there, play as well as we have all season and play good attacking footy and give them (the Crusaders) some trouble,'' he said.
"The Crusaders are a powerful unit."
The coach said his team was looking forward to Saturday night.
Pat's mum Nicole McCutcheon said they were very excited and very proud to see him in the final.
"They've worked really hard, it's really exciting to see," shesaid.
The McCutcheons will travel down to Sydney on Saturday to watch the game.
Mrs McCutcheon said she's encouraged her children to play team sports from a young age.
"I'd encourage anyone to be in a team sport, we played everything," she said.
"It's about the joy of the game."
Pat played for the Macquarie Emus and soccer in Narromine as he was growing up.
"I started focusing on rugby when I went to Joeys (St Josephs at Hunters Hill)," he said.
It was here he met four of his Waratah team-mates.
"We've played a lot of footy together, formed strong friendships," he said.
Pat believes country kids have a lot of talent.
"Country kids have the talent. Anything's achievable," he said.
