Well whilst it was a quiet week at home, with just some social bowls on the agenda, it didn't mean that the boy from the bowlo had a quiet week as well.
"No siree Bob", a number of players ventured out of town and found greener pastures, with treasure won at both Bourke and Dubbo City's President's Days along with some bragging rights at Fingal Bay.
It was indeed a week of action for our lads, and with the A triples firing up again this Saturday, the window tappers should have a decent outing as well.
Ok, now to some results. At Bourke our official team of president Kevin, senior vice-president John Edwards and the chauffeur extrodinaire David McNair won the morning game and were well on course to win their afternoon encounter when Mother Nature stepped in and put a halt to proceedings for the day.
Dubbo City's president provided a nice bounty for our official team of Malcolm Dawes, Arnold Gillespie and Don Sullivan who were awarded the day's runners-up prize after they had recorded two solid wins.
At home this week we had just a dozen starters on Thursday and Sunday's chook run featured only half that amount of entries.
Thursday's winning side was Warren Brown, Jimmy Daley and Danny Carnevale who scored a handy 17 points in their win over Teddy, Ashy and Sully. Clifton Harris, Phil Harding and David McNair also had a good win but could only score some 15 points along the way to their 19/12 win over "Rabs", "Doc" and "Crossy".
Just a reminder that there are a couple or three nomination sheets/flyers posted on the old notice board and anyone wishing to have a run in either the B grade triples, Fino Day and or Veterans' Day should take a few minutes to check out the closing dates and the actual times and dates these events have been scheduled for.
Saturday's A grade triples semi-finals matches are as follows and hopefully we should get a couple of interesting clashes.
If they have as interesting finishes as a couple of the quarter-final affairs, they will be beauties.
In game one: Clifton Harris, Jimmy Daley and Robert Stanford will play Geoff Cape, James Coen and Kevin Rider, whilst the second semi-final features the trio of Bill Shaw, James Daley and John Edwards up against Phil Harding, Des Lincoln and David McNair.
Well that's about it for me for another week of non-bowling, and it doesn't look like I will be on the track this week either.
Hopefully we might get a look in shortly.
