Harvey was suspended by the AFL Tribunal for three weeks for misconduct after flipping Western Bulldogs tagger Liam Picken and putting an elbow across his throat in North's win over the Dogs last Sunday.

Harvey was sent directly to the tribunal by the match review panel.

He will miss the Roos' final two games of the season - against Adelaide in Hobart and Melbourne at the Docklands. Winger Daniel Wells is also unavailable this weekend due to suspension, leaving the team without its best two line-breakers.

North coach Brad Scott said Harvey would need to repay his teammates for his costly lapse.

"He's a really good player, really good players get attention," said Scott on Thursday. "He's disappointed, we're disappointed.

"Now we need 'Boomer' to support us over the next three weeks, and help galvanise the team to get the results we want, so that he's available, he can get out on the field and repay us."

Scott said Harvey would have a coaching and mentoring role for the young side while suspended.

"He's got a great football mind. He sees the game really well. I think he coaches the game really well. So he'll play a really active role.

"He'll be in Hobart with us this weekend, he'll be with us every step of the way."

Lachie Hansen, Mason Wood and Kayne Turner were all in line to replace Harvey, Scott said. However Aaron Mullett may be best placed to return to the side after gathering 34 disposals in the VFL last weekend.

Small forward Robin Nahas won't be available for another week as he is yet to resume full-contact training.

Kieran Harper's recovery from injury hit another hurdle with Scott saying the player had sprained his good ankle. Harper expects to play VFL this weekend and could be ready for senior selection the following week.

The Roos have 48 points - enough to garuntee them finals should they beat Adelaide this weekend. With Adelaide needing a win to hold onto eighth place, Crows mentor Brendon Sanderson knows this is a crunch game.

"Everybody says `you have got to win this week'," Sanderson told reporters on Thursday.

"But that is the end result. It's more about the process.

"It's bad coaching if you say `you must win this week' because that gives the players the solution but it doesn't give them the answers on how to actually get the win."

Sanderson openly admits frustration at the inconsistency of his Crows: they haven't lost two games in a row since round three, but only twice have they strung together two or more consecutive wins.

"It's draining for the coaches and the fans," he said.

"But the players are good, they bounce back pretty quick."

The Crows will summon dual club champion Scott Thompson from a hamstring injury for the clash against the sixth-placed Kangaroos, but midfielder David Mackay is still suffereing the effects of a concussion that forced him out of the match against Richmond and may not be fit for the clash.
