Nine of the 19 drivers were reportedly from Trangie and Peter Holmes was one of them.
Mr Holmes said he had been working on his car for two months.
"I finished painting it last night," he said.
Mr Holmes has been entering the derby for eight or nine years.
"The best I've done in Narromine is second place, luck could be in my favour," he said before the derby on Saturday.
Contestant Chrissie-Lee Housden is no stranger to the derby either.
"I've been doing it for 10 years but I never go too well at Narromine," the pre-school teacher said.
Unfortunately neither contestant came home with the prize money, Jason Burne from Sydney was the winner. Mr Holmes, however, did have one win this year.
"At least there's one less Ford on the road," he said.
