Our Annual General Meeting was well attended last Sunday, and as a result of a ballot, there were a few changes to the existing Board of Directors and a brand new Men's Bowls Committee was also put in place.

Congratulations to those successful candidates, and also a big thank you to those former directors who either missed out or chose not to stand, your efforts in the past were appreciated.
For the record the new board is as follows; President Kevin Rider, Vice Presidents John Edwards and Rick Bohm, Directors Peter Cross, Danny Carnevale, Budd Cape, Harry Gammon, Des Lincoln and Jimmy Daley.
The Men's Bowling Committee will see Danny Carnevale, Des Lincoln, Harry Gammon, Arnold Gillespie and Don Sullivan running all bowling matters for the ensuing year.
Back to bowling results and upcoming events. This week saw the commencement of our "B" Grade Triples Championships.
Three matches were set down for Play and in each case the winning margins were decisive. In game one "Rabs" Macqueen, Luke Hutchison and James Coen were too good for Gordon McIntyre, David Price and Geoff Bohm, winning 26/11.
Game two saw John Everett, Henry Buttsworth and Alex Sambrook demolish Ian McMillian, Craig Smith and Geoff Anderson 30/12, whilst in the third match despite winning the ends Paul Hilder, Jimmy Daley and Legs Hartas were defeated 27/17 by Mal Dawes, Cilfton Harris and Arnold Gillespie, which just goes to show the benefit of drawing second wood can have, as half of Legs and co's shots were singles, whilst the winners had a host of "multis" on their side of the card.
Next Saturday this event continues on its merry way, with last weekend's winning rinks joined by Murray Woolfe, John Woolfe and Geoff Cape to play a couple of semi-final matches.
Social bowls this week was restricted to just the Thursday afternoon foray, and again the numbers were slightly disappointing given the weather pattern.
That didn't stop "Rabs" and "Cranky" having an enjoyable afternoon and with just fourteen starters they got all the chocolates available, with a solid win over their opponents.
The jackpot remained intact and hopefully with the warmer weather now upon us we should get a few more regulars back up next week.
Upcoming events include our Veterans day on Thursday, September 25, and hopefully the final of both our "A" and "B" Grade Triples will also be played before the end of the month, which will leave just the mixed and consistency events to be finalised.
To that end nomination sheets for both the Mixed Pairs and the consistency singles have been posted on the notice board, and intending players are advised to nominate sooner rather than later, as to ensure a start.
Not much more to report on this week, but congratulations to Robbie Stanford, who was part of the Zone Four Squad that won the 2014 State Inter-zone sides championships in Dubbo Last weekend. Whilst it was a big feather in the cap for Bowls in Zone Four, Robbie's good play ensued those in attendance new about little old Narromine Bowling Club as well.
