A STRING of tyre slashings in South Dubbo has prompted a Dubbo family to buy a security camera that may provide a clue to a vandalism attack that took place in their driveway in the early hours of Monday morning.

A Gipps Street father told the Daily Liberal he woke to find a tyre slashed on a vehicle parked in his driveway.
He had bought and installed the camera after a spate of vandalism attacks at his and nearby houses.
It recorded a man in a hoodie with a bottle in his left hand and a concealed object in the other, about 4.11am Monday, the same morning the tyre was slashed.
The man hopes the footage will help police as they investigate who was responsible for the attack.
For legal reasons, the Daily Liberal has blurred the person of interest's face, but the unedited version has been handed to police.
There had been five tyre slashings involving vehicles parked at his family's residence in the past three months, the man said, and Monday morning's incident was the second within a week.
At his residence alone, the word 'sluts' had been written in lipstick on the bonnet of a car on June 27, aerials were bent on two separate vehicles on August 10 and 11, a left front tyre had been slashed on August 27 and a left rear tyre was stabbed on September 16.
"When we took one to the tyre repairers last week they said they'd had half a dozen that day," he said.
What was especially disturbing about this latest incident, the man said, was that while the previous vandalism attacks had taken place at the front of the house, the tyre slasher had walked down his driveway.
While he understood police could not be everywhere, the Gipps Street resident hoped whoever had slashed his tyres was caught soon.
"The hands of the police are tied, their resources are limited," he said.
"But this has not only been expensive and inconvenient, it has now escalated.
"This guy was in my driveway with a weapon.
"Obviously it's very upsetting for my family.
"We're just one target, there could be many more and it could be thousands of dollars worth of damage.
"I would just say to this guy, whatever frustrations you have, why take them out on us?"
A spokesperson for Orana Local Area Command (LAC) said police would review the footage.
Earlier this month police announced they had stepped up patrols in South Dubbo after 20 reports of damage had been received in the previous month.
At the time, Orana LAC Inspector Brad Johnston said police were not sure what had motivated the attacks and the victims did not appear to be linked.
"We are urging people to be vigilant in keeping a look-out for suspicious behaviour," he said.
"Reports of damage should be made to police."
