People queued outside the new $4.25 million store before its doors opened at 8.30am on Wednesday.
A steady stream of shoppers arrived at the land rezoned for commercial use in 2011 and many were quick to make their purchases.
Desley Hohnberg travelled from Narromine and by 9.15am had almost filled her trolley.
She said with one supermarket in her town previously they had done some shopping at Dubbo or gone once a month to the ALDI store at Parkes.
"It's so convenient now that it's here in Dubbo," Ms Hohnberg said.
"Everything is a lot cheaper."
Ian Rindfleish was one of the first customers through the door and said he used to shop at ALDI before moving to Dubbo from Sydney last year and since then had been travelling to the discount retailer's stores at Parkes and Mudgee.
ALDI area manager Narelle Taylor was there for the opening, the culmination of weeks of work.
"The line-up went all the way around the building and there was a steady stream coming in for about 25 minutes so we're really excited, all our hard work's going to pay off," she said.
