Black was a state sprinter and runner, and a national swimmer when she was younger but recently decided she needed to do more than just master swimming.

She took up figure competing in February last year and started training based on her previously athletic experience without a coach.

Black entered the Dubbo INBA championships where she came third.

After gaining some confidence she placed first in Ms Figure, Ms Figure International and Overall in a Sydney competition.

She earned two fourth places at the All-Female Classic and a second and fourth at the nationals.

After a year of training solo she decided she would achieve more with a coach who would help her to lean down.

This year she won several awards including great success at her first INBA World Championships.

Black placed first in Ms Figure and gained her Pro card, by winning the Pro Qualifier category.

Earlier this month she returned from the International Natural Bobybuilding Association (INBA) Australian Championships in Brisbane.

She came back with three titles - Ms Figure International, Ms Figure and the Overall winner.

Black said a highlight of hers was competing at Worlds, but she said Australian competitors were of a higher standard.

"The quality and standard of girls is very high," she said.

Black said her background in sport was to thank for her success, but it had still exceeded any of her expectations.

"If someone had told me two years ago I would be a World and Australian champion I wouldn't have believed them," she said.

"It's all happened very quickly- I'm very blessed."

Black will travel to San Diego in a month's time for the Natural Olympia and is in need of donations to help get her there.
