The 2014 RAS Field Crop Competition and ASC Wheat Crop Competition for the Narromine district was held on Wednesday October 15.

The Field Crop Competition consisted of mainly canola crops while the Dryland Wheat Competition was judged in conjunction on the day.
Canola varieties entered consisted of 44Y84, Hyola 50 and also Monola314TT.
All crops were being assessed and judged during the tour for management that was mainly focused on nutrition, weed management (rotation of chemistry) and gross margin.
"We would like to thank all of the growers who participated in the competition this year," Landmark Branch Manager Dwayne Kent said.
"It is a real credit to their management in producing such economical, high-yielding crops.''
The stand-out crops and commendable farmers who took out the top places were:
RAS Field Crop Competition:
1st: Chris Brennan "Nundora" with a crop of canola.
2nd: Rob Tuck "Doonside" with a crop of canola.
3rd: Brian Kinsey with a crop of canola.
ASC Wheat Crop Competition-
1st: Brian Kinsey with a crop of Suntop grown at "Kyree".
2nd: Rob Tuck with a crop of EGA Gregory grown at "Newhaven".
3rd: Jock Crawford with a crop of Suntop grown at "Brigendoone".
A special mention must be made of Brett Cumberland from AFM Developers who was the judge of the ASC Wheat Crop Competition and Field Crop Competition.
"Given the tough finish to the year all wheat crops were exceptional," Mr Cumberland commented.
