Council Offers Reward for Information on Vandalism - Vandalism costs council and ratepayers thousands of dollars each year. At its ordinary meeting held on October 8 council adopted a rewards policy. The aim of this policy is to encourage community members to report information about vandals to the NSW Police; reduce acts of vandalism on council property by increasing the risk of detection and apprehension; strengthen our community pride and emphasise that vandalism is an act of crime.
Council will offer a reward of up to $5000 to people providing information on vandalism to council-owned-or-managed property. The reward is payable for information leading to legal action being taken e.g. criminal proceeding resulting in a conviction, finding of guilt or offence, formal police caution/warning or a juvenile justice conference. All reward claims will be verified with the police to ensure compliance with the conditions of the rewards policy. For further information, please contact council on 6889 9999.
