Bright sunshine, heaps of mirage and a fast-changing head wind greeted six rifle shooters at the Narromine-Dubbo rifle range on Saturday when competition was held over 600 yards.

Early shooters were hampered by the wind and at the end of the first stage, Norm Brown led the target rifle pair with a 48/50, while in F-class, Rob Rainbow led with a 51/60.
Conditions eased some in the second stage and Norm Brown fired another 48 to win the A-grade Cock O'the Walk badge with 96/100 off-rifle.
Dave Forster fired a winning 58/60 to win the F-class badge with a total 107/120. The weekly handicap trophy went to Scott Monaghan who finished on 99/100 and Rob Rainbow cleaned up the little white spot in his first stage.

Scott Monaghan 47/47, off-rifle 94, handicap 5, total 99/100; Rob Rainbow 51/54, F-class total 105/120; Clive Simpson 47/49, F-class total 96/120; Norm Brown 48/48, o/r 96, hcp 2, total 98/100; Arthur Tucker 33/48, F-class total 81/120; Dave Forster 49/58, F-class total 107/120. Next Saturday, shooting is from 700 yards starting at 12.30pm.
