Two people have died after a crash involving a semi-trailer and car south of Coonabarabran overnight.

The crash happened Newell Highway shortly before 10pm (Monday 10 November 2014), about 10km south of the town.
Police from Mudgee Local Area Command have been told the car was struck by the semi-trailer while doing a U-turn.
The male driver died at the scene; his female passenger died a short time later in Coonabarabran Hospital.
The truck driver was also taken to Coonabarabran Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Traffic on the highway was disrupted for almost eight hours. It was re-opened in both directions shortly before 6am.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
