Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service rushed to the scene of the first fire, about 5km from Narromine, on Dandaloo Road.
This was soon followed by another blaze in the Tomingley area which amalgamated with the first blaze.
The fires broke out at about 5pm and thanks to the quick work of emergency services were brought under control and extinguished by 7pm.
NSW Fire and Rescue expressed concerns the fire was going to get into the garbage depot.
Nobody was injured as a result of the blaze and no property lost.
With summer not yet with us the fires are likely to be a sign of an explosive summer.
The blaze is a timely reminder to take special care during the hot weather.
Friday, Saturday and Sunday are forecast to reach above 40 degrees in Trangie with an extreme UV index rating.
NSW Ambulance urges Narromine residents to stay safe.
“Dehydration, sunburn and heat exposure can lead to heat stroke,” a NSW Ambulance spokesperson said.
“People working in excessively hot environments, such as roof cavities, can suffer a rapid escalation of body temperature which can lead to death. Dehydration in the frail can lead to confusion and falls.”
Farmers who are still harvesting are also asked to take precautions in the extreme heat as a spark from farm machinery can ignite a blaze which can have devastating consequences.
