Mitchell John Newman is alleged to have committed offences against Zachery Horton at Narromine between 9.30pm and 10pm on August 16.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions told the court it was waiting for DNA analysis and other brief of evidence items.
Magistrate Terence Lucas adjourned the charges to January 14. There was no application for bail which was formally refused by the court.
