INXS bassist Garry Beers has rejected the "hurtful allegations" his daughter published, claiming the 22-year-old media studies graduate chose to air the INXS bass player's dirty laundry in order to find a job.

"The INXS mini-series aired in February this year, I am saddened that my daughter has chosen now, as she seeks to embark on a career in journalism, to publish this story," Garry Beers wrote in a lengthy statement to the media on Wednesday.
Earlier this week Lucy-Mae Beers wrote a first-person piece outlining her lonely teenage years and fractured relationship with the man she said suffers from "Peter Pan syndrome", something her father denies.
"I can only assume that she means that I am immature, child-like and divorced from reality. This is untrue," the 57-year-old said of the non-medical condition.
According to Garry, the pair had been emailing up until June this year and his daughter's claim to Fairfax Media that she was "lucky to get an email on my birthday", is untrue.
"In January this year I sent the girls [Lucy and his other daughter Matilda, 18] eight hours of video footage from their childhood on a hard disk that I painstakingly put together. They loved it," he said.
Lucy-Mae Beers also claimed her father "thrived off a diet of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, a settled family lifestyle with us was not appealing in the slightest – he longed to be back on tour fooling around with instruments and women".
Garry admitted to an extramarital affair during the band's 1997 tour.
"This was the only affair I ever had, and I told my then wife straight away," he said.
Lucy-Mae also detailed how her younger sister only learned of his affair "in the INXS autobiography in the school library" and was upset that he never apologised after the young girls "were sent to four psychologists to understand why we were upset with him for abandoning us like stray dogs".
A lawsuit and years of legal dramas allegedly hampered the rocker's efforts in maintaining a relationship with his daughters when he and first wife Jodie Crampton divorced 13 years ago.
Garry Beers is now based in LA and in 2011 remarried a woman named Jourdan. The couple have twins, Isla and August. He has another son, Benjamin, the product of a short-term relationship.
"If she really does believe all of these untruths about me, I wish she had just picked up the phone," he said.
Lucy Beers told Fairfax Media: "I don't care what he thinks. I know he'll react badly and I'll probably get some sort of response and it won't be nice but I'm prepared for that. I just wanted our story out there because it's my truth. I have a voice as well and just because he's sort of a celebrity it doesn't mean he can go around saying whatever likes."
