The Fours Championships started last weekend and after the first round I can advise one and all that we will have a new four added to the honour board as the previous two seasons champions Mark Hilder, Alex Sambrook, Budd Cape and Robert French were defeated by President Kevie's Band of Men in a match they controlled from the get go.

The final score of 21/11 after just 19 ends was perhaps a surprise to most, but in fairness to the Victors, all of them have been rolling up on a regular basis and so their form was easy to gauge.
In other Matches Des Lincoln and team mates Gordon Mcintyre, Phil Harding and James Daley won a very tight encounter 16/15 over Don Gibson, Bob Ashdown, James Coen and David McNair, despite losing the ends 07/14 and now advance to the next round.
Also advancing are the quartet of Jimmy Daley, Bert Hand, Steve Buttsworth and Danny Carnevale who had solid win over Aaron Hutchison's young guns squad.
So, whilst there are no championship matches scheduled for this coming weekend the Bowls committee would appreciate any teams able to play do so, otherwise the full schedule for the following weekend will look this way.
Matches for Saturday January, 31, 1.30pm tart:Club Fours: Game 1: Bob Davis, Geoff Anderson, Bruce Maher, Peter Cross Versus David Price, Luke Hutchison, Geoff Bohm, Robbie Stanford.
Game 2: Jimmy Daley, Bert Hand, Steve Buttsworth, Danny Carnevale Versus Mal Dawes, Bill Wilkie, Arnold Gillespie, Don Sullivan.
Game 03: Gordon McIntyre, Phil Harding, James Daley, Des Lincoln Versus Mick Wright, Andrew Macqueen, Bill Shaw, John Edwards
Thursday social Bowls saw a "goodly" number of starters go round, and the full wrap of the days play went like this.
On rink 3 it was Don Gibson, Sam Crook and Visitor Peter Daley who prevailed 24/17 over Peter Kelly, Bob Ashdown and Don Sullivan in a "topsy-turvey" match that saw the lead change hands a few times during the course of the first half, but some handy "multi's" to Peter and the boys on ends 19 and 20 ensured the win.
On rink 4 it was the trio of John Heterick, Ray Cross and Arnold Gillespie who recorded a solid 24/11 win over their opponents Mal Dawes, Bert Hand and Danny Carnevale with again the match being in the balance at mid-point, but the victors closed out the match courtesy of eigh consecutive winning ends.
That will seal the deal most times.
In the last of the triples clashes Bob Davis, Des Lincoln and John Edwards had too many answers for their opponents, namely Bob Weir, Robert Bateman and David McNair, winning convincingly 32/09 and in doing so collected the Lion's share of the loot on offer as the days winners.
The runners up cheque went to Arnie and Team, whilst the jackpot was kept safe.
If 18 on Thursday was a "goodly" number, then not quite sure what to call the 24 that turned up for Sunday's chook run, but it was wonderful to see four rinks of triples going around, and I even nearly had a run. Great to see a number of new bowlers having a run, even a couple of ladies decided the weather wasn't that hot.
So what happened, well on rink 3 Rod Campbell, Keith Boynton and Don Sullivan just got over the top of Michael Holsten, Sam Crook and David McNair 16/13 in a dour tussle.
On rink 04 "Sticka" Martin, Bob Ashdown and Bill Wilkie had a comfortable win over Mick Wright, Betty Purvis and Kevin Short 22/11. On rink 05 it was the trio of Aaron Clarke, Rob Bateman and Danny Carnevale who recorded a solid 20/14 win over Gordon McIntyre, Kay McKenzie and Arnold Gillespie, whilst in the last clash Rob Albouze, Bob davis and Peter Payne jumped out to a handy 13/02 lead and despite a strong finish from their opponents, "Rabs" Macqueen, David Price and Geoff Bohm who got to within 2 shots of the lead on end the 14th end, lost to the early leaders 17/11.
With the Judge ensconced in his Jason recliner, the other members of the bowls committee decided that Bill Wilkie and Team had put in the days best performance and Danny and Crew had done enough to warrant the runners up cheque. Once again the jackpot was not won and so next weekend will be just that much more to play for.
Just a reminder that district Championships will commence shortly and nominations for the "FOURS" and "TRIPLES" events have been posted on the club notice board and intending players only have until Sunday night to enter if they wish to be in either or both of these events.
The entry fee is unchanged and is $5.00 per head per event And needs to be paid to the Bowls secretary so he can forward this on to the district.
The Notice Board is also where you should be looking to find out what's happening or upcoming as there is plenty of Bowls events on or about to be on, including a visitation from the Moree Bowling Club on Saturday, February 14.
The Club will be hosting a pennant trial against West Dubbo on Sunday March 8 and to that end the Selectors have put together a couple of squads.
These squads were posted on the Notice Board earlier in the week and on behalf of the selectors I must stress that they want it known that the teams selected are certainly not the final ones that will represent our club in 2015, so if you don't see your name where you would like it to be, don't spit the dummy, as there will be a number of "trials" or hit outs between now and the pennant season where you will be given an opportunity to "show your wares"
Not much more to report on, hope to see you up at the "Bowly" sometime this week and who knows I might even roll a few down as well?
