The minister was impressed with what she saw after a comprehensive tour around the facility and a visit at Timbrebongie House.

"There's a lot of really good small hospitals out there, but there's a tremendous linkage with the aged care facility next door. Very lucky to have everything joined like this," she said.

Western NSW Local Health District chief executive, Scott McLachlan said Narromine is a fantastic facility and is integral to the Dubbo hospital.

"Narromine is fantastic, not only the facility but the doctors and the nursing staff's ability to care about the patients," he said.

Member for Dubbo, Troy Grant agreed he's a fan of the Narromine Hospital.

"It's the friendliest hospital out here. They do their own cooking and they're the best scones in Australia," he said.

Mrs Skinner stopped in on patient Faye Williamson who was pleased to see her.

"It's nice she spared her time in her busy day to come out here," she said.

"Feel like a valued citizen and maybe it will be the beginning of things happening for the better.

"As big as Dubbo is, in a small town like this people care for you."

Mrs Skinner said Mrs Williamson told her of some improvements that could be made in the hospital.

"We've chatted to Mrs Williams about the area where she does arts and crafts and I think Troy and I can find a bit of money to jazz it up," she said.

Mr McLachlan took the opportunity to thank the hard working staff of Narromine hospital.

"We'd like to thank you for you do here. Narromine is critical to us," he said.

The Health Minister and Mr Grant visited the hospital before announcing the funding for Dubbo Hospital yesterday.
