Over the past 28 years Graham has held a range of positions with the Narromine and Dubbo VRA.
He has served on the Executive of the New South Wales Volunteer Rescue Association and was awarded with an Honorary Life Membership of Narromine Rescue Squad in 2010 for his outstanding contributions and dedication to the squad and the community of Narromine.
Graham joined the Dubbo VRA in 1986 and transferred to the Narromine VRA in 1990 where he continues his service as a volunteer.
While at Dubbo Graham held the position of Training Officer for 18 months and since joining the Narromine VRA has served as president for 12 years, a position he currently holds.
Over the years Graham has been the Training Officer, Vice-Captain and Secretary and he is a certified General Land Rescue Operator and a Qualified Assessor.
At the state level, Graham has held the position of Region Coordinator since 2008.
This role involves managing the Western Region of the NSW VRA, including Dubbo, Narromine, Coolah, Mendooran, Coonabarabran, and Burrendong. Recently he managed fire events at Coonabarabran and Lithgow, both of which were declared State Of Emergency, on behalf of the VRA.
Narromine Shire Mayor, Cr Billy McAnally said "Council and the community congratulate Graham on receiving this well deserved award and we thank him for his dedication and commitment to the VRA at a local, regional and state level".
"In Graham's citation he was described as a highly respected member of the Volunteer Rescue Association who carries out his duties with diligence and distinction, and we are proud to have such a person in our community", Cr McAnally added.
In April, Graham, his wife Judith and their son Paul will attend the official award ceremony at Government House, Sydney.
"I am humbled by the award, and I would like to thank the Narromine community for their continued support of the Association, and I am proud to serve the community as an active member of the VRA", Graham said.
