Recently it was awarded the Australian School Canteen Association (ASCA)'s 5 Star Accreditation.
The overhaul, under new canteen manager Claire Mears, adopts a stricter healthy food philosophy that meets the Government's "Fresh Tastes Strategy" and Ms Mears said students were loving it.
"We're trying to steer the kids away from unhealthy options and encouraging them to have a healthy outlook," she said.
"It's fantastic that what we're doing has been acknowledged and rewarded."
ASCA introduced the 5 Star Accreditation in 2013 and it is the only national quality accreditation for school canteens in Australia.
ASCA identified the need for a national quality accreditation to provide principals, P&C committees and parents with assurance their canteen met all the required standards of quality.
The accreditation focuses on five key criteria: staff competencies, the canteen as part of the school environment, quality products and service, regulatory compliance and a healthy environment and systems and procedures.
NPS Principal, Denise King said Ms Mears and other canteen workers looked at the situation of the canteen and found ways to improve it.
"The ladies have put a lot of effort in and consulted with the community to see what they can do better," she said.
"It took a bit, but now more students are actually purchasing the healthier choices."
