Cr McAnally said the iconic monument would stay put for the Gallipoli centenary, due to the withdrawal of the stonemason.
“It’s a shame we couldn’t get it moved before Anzac Day,” he said.
“But I can promise everyone it will look good when it is eventually moved and it will look good on Anzac Day.”
Narromine Shire Council proposed painted black chain strung around the Cenotaph would improve the appearance of the monument.
“We’re looking to pretty it up with some chains and possibly some pot plants,” Cr McAnally said.
The council has been discussing the clean-up and relocation of the monument for almost 25 years - an issue which has divided the town.
It was decided in July 2014 that the Narromine War Memorial Cenotaph would move to Tom Perry Park.
Cr McAnally said the wheels were in motion to get the Cenotaph moved as soon as possible after the Gallipoli centenary celebrations.
“We have another stonemason lined up and plenty of concept plans in the works,” he said.
