They played in front of many parents and friends and assistant principal Geoff Gibbons.
With significant experience on board in one or other of the rugby codes, the lads won their pool defeating both Dubbo Public and St Marys.
In the play-offs a draw against Macquarie Anglican Grammar was followed by a loss to St Laurence's (whose team included some seriously big boys: whatever their No 8 eats for breakfast, your correspondent wants some).
St Augustines, with a majority this year from year five, should be a major force next year.
Representatives from Year 6 were Paddy Burns, Tait Gibbons, Beau Mitchell and Fletcher Wynne; from Year 5: Jack Gainsford, Ossie Gill, Michael Kent, Sam McGuire, Harry McPherson and Ollie Wiggins.
For the record: 1) according to a straw poll of extraneous sideline experts the St Augustines player of the day was (drum roll ..) Tait Gibbons.
2) The Australian Rugby Union Development Manager for Western Region NSW, Mark DeBrincat, did an awesome job. What a top day.
3) New principal Luke Wilson was excited to hear of the boys' performance.
