SCIENCE CHALLENGE
Narromine High competed at the Western Region Science and Engineering Challenge in Dubbo recently.
The day aims to encourage students to study science in their senior years and possibly follow a career into science and engineering. Our students showed they have what it takes, completing a series of challenges such as tower construction, navigation, catapult and bridge building. Our catapult team constructed the longest projecting catapult on the day. Our school won third place overall when all challenge scores were tallied, a great result and a reflection of student and staff commitment and participation.
UNI ROADSHOW
Some of our senior students recently attended the Uni Roadshow which showcases the best New England, Charles Sturt and Southern Cross universities have to offer.
Years 7-10 students were also given the opportunity to attend the Future Moves Career Workshops held by Charles Sturt University in our school.
This program encourages students to explore career options and opportunities that come from higher education, inspires students to consider university as a viable option and builds awareness of university with students who may think that university is not for them.
Five students competed at the State CHS Swimming Championships in Sydney last week and gave their best in a very competitive field.
They were Casey and Jucinta Coupe, Abby-Lee Quarmby and Lana Monaghan, who swam in the open girls 4x50m freestyle relay, and Jack Davison who swam in the 13 yrs boys 100m backstroke.
SPORT
Narromine High sporting teams have competed in a number of Combined High School (CHS) sporting fixtures during the last few weeks.
Open boys and girls basketball, soccer, touch football and open girls netball teams have all worn the blue and gold with pride.
Our sporting teams show great potential for the coming years with many junior players already competing at open level.
The boys soccer team has progressed to the next round of the CHS competition against Warren with a thrilling penalty shoot-out win 3-1 over Gilgandra.
