The accident took place outside the War Cemetary on the Tomingley Road at Narromine.
Police believe the accident took place just after 7am when the white ford sedan was travelling south.
The sedan reportedly collided with a speed limit sign and skidded across the roaded hitting a mesh and star picket fence and catching alight.
The Narromine Fire and Rescue and Rural Fire Service put out the fire.
A deceased person was located in the driver's seat.
Police are still making inquiries with the registered owner of the car.
Orana Local Area Command (LAC) Duty Officer, Malcolm Andrews said a scientific post mortem would take place.
"With identification there's a few avenues we can go down," he said. The VRA, RFS, NSW Fire and Rescue, Narromine Police, Orana Detectives and forensic officers all attended the scene.
The police are still investigating what caused the crash.
The Tomingley Road was temporarily closed from Wednesday morning until early afternoon.
